January

In some ways January flew by and in others it was quite a long month. Here are a few highlights.
My kids dressed up and ready to brave the cold to take out the garbages. Laylah matches fantastically :)
We had fun making playdough, and while the kids were busy playing with it, I washed and folded the upcoming baby's laundry.
I just loved the pictures Kalel drew of Grandma and Grandpa.
On January 18th we celebrated Laylah's 3rd birthday! That night before we went to pizza factory for a little family time. I was trying to get a cute picture of her sitting with her Dad, well he wouldn't look at the camera and these are the many faces she pulled. Goof ball.
That night I tried to blow up some balloons and wow, apparently that is not really possible when you're 38+ weeks pregnant. Luckily Kyle hates tying them so he blew them up and I tied them. We put them in her room and then I covered the door with crete paper.
The real fun was that night when we had a party at the Rickenbach's for both Laylah and Macie. She loved helping with the cupcakes and decorating them. I had ideas for doing a 'cute cake' but those quickly were dismissed due to being large, tired and trying to finish up the last of my work before I took a break. She loved the pink and green cupcakes though.
I made her this new princess skirt, which I threw together way to quickly - I need to fix it up a bit. But she loved it. The girls had fun dancing, playing the piano and hugging. She was spoiled by all our loving family. So blessed.

One of my favorite shots from the night.

I bought a baby heart beat monitor when I was pregnant with Laylah because I wasn't going into my midwife until I was 20 weeks pregnant because we were living in Iowa. It has been fun to pull it out with this one and the kids love to hear everyone's heartbeat.
 39 weeks!
"Mom Kalel's in the washer...." Good thing all the buttons are up top!
My last big project before the baby. Pillows and drapes for my upstairs 'loft'.
You can barely see the drapes but they are a gray polka dot and a red chevron. I still have the rest of the room to finish up but this makes a HUGE difference. I love the bright fun happy colors.

1 - We noticed there was a car stuck out in the snow so Kyle threw on his hat and boots, along with his normal attire - basketball shorts and t-shirt to help and as I looked out the window at other neighbors showing up I started thinking about how I love living in a real neighborhood with neighbors instead of people who you barely make eye contact with as you walk in your apartment. 2 - My sister Sara made Laylah this cute crayon apron for Christmas and this is how Laylah wanted to wear it... A bit risque?.. 3 - Just looking down at the big ball under my dress sitting in my lap 4 - Enjoying her presents the day after her birthday. Bell dress from Bennions, doll from Rickenbachs and wings from Papa & Tutu.
SUPERMAN Da, da da DA! I know, pretty intense. But I know he won't jump higher than he believes he can, so far.. we are good.
A secret about this sleeping princess... SHE SNORES... no really... she snores LOUD. I love taking naps with her, but sometimes she wakes me up she is so loud! She always wants to hold my hand or be cuddling my face. Love her.

One hard thing about this January was the seriously COLD temperatures. We are talking negatives for days and days and then 'warming up' to single digits. We lived with fog for several days, sometimes I couldn't see my next door neighbor's house and the inversion made the sky disappear for far too long. We are just now coming out of it and I am so grateful for the sunshine!

Now that January is over we are just WAITING ever so patiently for our new baby. Blah. I wish I just knew when and then I could wait, it's the not knowing that is killing me! But we are all happy, healthy and blessed.
