Harvesting Honey

Back in Oct?? we learned how to harvest honey. Kyle's bro & sister-in-law keep their bees on the farm. We were able to go help harvest the honey this year. It was really interesting and delicious!!!

We have begun the 'unloading stage'. And it is oh so fun... and messy :)

I snapped a few of my kids before the storm rolled in. We had a serious storm wind, rain & hail. Kalel was looking out the window saying, "What the hail, what the hail." I was dying. It was so funny. Then he would say, "what the car? what the rock? etc So I know it wasn't intentional. Sure made me laugh though. He said it several times.

We went to Macey's food store and did some trick-or-treating, cookie decorating, got balloons etc.

After the storm let up we went to Kyle's parents for a trunk-or-treat. Kalel went to a few houses with the cousins and then we went back to Papa & Tutu's for some yummy soup in bread bowls. All in all a great day.

We monitored the candy, until the next day when Kalel took his bag to 'share' with his uncles. Let's just say Kyle found him in the other room with just wrappers. He was SICK that night. Lesson learned?? I hope so, I'm still using it as an example to remind him.

Can it get any better??

I have to admit I'm not a huge Halloween person. I don't do all the scary, gross etc. However we managed to have a fabulous party with my family. Complete with homemade root beer with dry ice, and some 'potions' (with worms, spiders and eyeballs), pumpkin carving & 'How to train your dragon' (Love that movie)

One reason we LOVE living so close to the farm

After Kalel saw some ponies you could pay to ride around in a circle, he told us he wanted to ride them. I told him we could just go to the farm and ride April. First thing in the morning he says, "Mom I really wanna ride a horsie named April." So we asked Papa and he said to come on over that weekend. I heard the begging for the next couple of days. We went with his cousins.

Kalel rode April all by himself! Not only by himself but notice that there isn't even a lead rope on! Yes I was nervous... but I tried not think about it. He did GREAT! He wasn't scared or anything.

They went for a little ride in the river bottoms. Kalel stayed on April alone, but this time Kyle has a lead rope. I was relieved when they all came back safe ;) He is one that doesn't scare easily. He is a big boy I've been told.

Gardner Village Take 1 & 2

Part 1: Me and my sistas (minus 1)

This year the elder sisters took our girls on a quick trip to Gardner Village to see the witches and get some fried green tomatoes. We weren't there for too long but we still had fun especially at the doll store. I fell in love with one... unfortunately my baby isn't old enough for me to feel justified buying her a nice one. aka my husband would not be happy ;) But seeing the witches with the girls is always fun.

Part 2: Meeting the newest member of the Taylor family.

We met up with our good friends - Morgan & Heidi. They have a daughter named Abigail. She and Kalel love to play together. And we got to meet their new baby Clara. (Confession: When I see a newborn or hear one through the phone... there is something inside me that involuntarily squeels? and says I need one! Good thing we hung out for awhile. It helped me remember that I don't want to nor can I take care of two babies. Because mine is still very much a baby)

On a side note... These are the coolest sunglasses you've ever seen right? He loves them, and so do I. I can't look at him without laughing.

Note to Self & Back to school..

Note to self... If you decide to stop at your favorite fabric store on the way home, without warning your other half... Be prepared to see this face :) Not to mention your husband may take your baby on a 4-wheeler...

My favorite lil sis is in nursing school. There was a day when they could bring kids for observation. Kalel was counting down the days until he got to go to school with Dan Dan!

He INSISTED on wearing his superman costume to school. After class we were sitting on the grass talking and looked over to see this.

Even dragons need Moms

My lover... In fact just a few minutes ago he was fighting with his Dad because... Kyle was holding me and Kalel walked in, looked at him and said, "My honey!" Kyle: No, she is my honey, she is your mommy." Kalel: "No, she's my honey." etc.

I truly love this kid. Yes he can definitely try my patience... but he is such a lover. Ever since he was able to crawl he would go play and come back occasionally to hug me. Then he would go play some more until it was time for another hug. He still does this. He plays, kisses, plays, hugs, plays, checks in on me etc. It is really cute. The other day just after he finished playing dinosaurs (killing, fighting etc. Very 'boy') He was telling me, "Mom, I really want a pet dragon, and another bird (dinosaur bird) so that mine can say hi to his Mom. :) I love that he is BOY BOY BOY with a super loving tender side. Even dragon's need Moms to say hi to. :)


Last night Kyle asked Kalel. "Who's in charge? Mom or Dad?" He looked at us both and said, "I am!" That about sums him up!

New bike & catching up on some fall pics

After we went to Bear Lake with his cousins he discovered that they had bikes with training wheels. He REFUSED to touch his bike because "It was for little boys, and he was a big boy." Fortunately for him, Kyle & I thought it was time to get him a bigger bike. Kyle found this one on KSL. (I love that site) This is for sure the coolest bike I've seen! Complete with a studded Banana seat, curved handle bars, bigger back wheel than front etc. He is OBSESSED with his "new bike."

In these pictures Laylah is 8 months old. She has started pulling herself up on things and crawling backwards. Kalel crawled backwards first too. They get stuck in corners and under chairs etc. She also gets frustrated because she is moving farther away from what she wants! She did this for a couple of weeks and then started to get a hang of crawling full force forward! She is still an absolute doll.

All was quiet... so I went looking and found her like this. No peep, no whining because she was stuck, just content eating crumbs. Back to cleaning the floor ALL DAY. :)

Kalel LOVES to wrestle with his Daddy. Sometimes he wins... but this doesn't last long. :)

And the finale. Classic - My husband just put his son's feet in his underwear. Ha ha. This was hilarious. Also the last pic.. it's not fair if he can win with literally his foot!

Mile High City

In September Kyle had a meeting in Denver, so Laylah & I joined him for a couple of days. It was a much needed little get away. We had a lot of fun hanging out downtown one night. For those of you who haven't been before... It is so fun! The '16th street mall' is a 1 mile outdoor mall with a ton of stores (which we didn't go in) but lining the street (where no cars are allowed) are all kinds of things. From painters, singers, performers, chess players, flower baskets, old victorian style buildings, etc.

The top left picture is of some people playing chess - just on the street, the bottom left shows a cool old building - these were everywhere, Kyle & I in from of some 'dancers', Laylah eating Kyle's nose... and my FAVORITE were the PIANOS! lining the street there were several old painted pianos with chairs. Anyone who wanted to sit down and use it could. Some put out bowls for money, others had a crowd around singing and some were like Kyle... just sat down and played a couple of songs. :) So fun!

Slowly but surely

Busy week = no updating

Instead I wanted to do this, but didn't have time :)

1: A concert / competition at the park - Kalel stole this chair from someone...

2: I was painting Kalel's toybox and he got some keys a pillow for Laylah and took her for a 'drive'

3: We've had a couple of trips to Park City

4: Going to a friends wedding reception

5: Of course more sleeping pics... nursing mother = exhausted
