Getting Ready

~ February 2013 ~

I've started this post several times and just now have time to actually finish it!

The first week of February was possibly the longest of my life! Kalel was born 15 minutes to midnight before his due date. Laylah was born the day after her due date, probably because I stayed down a couple days before because Kyle was teaching a seminar on my due date. So naturally I thought this third one would be similar. He had something else in mind! We tried to stay busy while waiting.

I did well depending on the part of the day :) Sometimes I was fine and enjoying my life before it was turned upside down for a bit, and other parts of the day I was convinced he was not going to come out! I worked up until a couple weeks before my due date. It was nice to have some time to get things ready.

Lots of sitting around watching the kids do random things like dress ups.

Physically I did great until I went to the chiropractor. He adjusted by back and hips, which was great, they were sore! Then he adjusted my pelvis. Holy smokes, seriously couldn't even walk. I don't know if something was wrong but I didn't dare go back because it was so painful. It felt like muscles ripped for sure. So that really added to the long last week. The next morning I literally couldn't get out of bed. I tried to crawl to the bathroom but that hurt worse. So my sweet son brought me a bowl of cereal. I gave him my phone and had him take pictures of the cupboard then I pointed out the IB Profen so he could get some for me. I hadn't had it in years. When I finally came down that afternoon the kids were just watching a movie. The house wasn't destroyed too bad.

Except the kitchen. Somebody found the cocoa and accidentally spilled it everywhere.

This picture was the Sunday before I gave birth. I happened to glance in the mirror and saw this... Ya, little baby time to come out! When my mom saw this on her phone she thought it was an apothecary jar (you know, the ones with the lid) and I was standing behind it taking a picture.... ha ha ha
We took a trip to the dollar store to get out and moving. I gave the kids $2. They were thrilled.
More craft time. This time we made mini 'volcanoes' with baking soda and colored vinegar. Super fun.
Dad gets an extra workout when the kids get on during his pushups.
Kyle wanted to take me on a 4-wheeler ride to hopefully get things moving. Well we got to the farm and it wouldn't start. So he saw this parking lot on the way home. Yes we drove around in the bumpy snow and ice while listening to music for 10-15 minutes.... and what happened? Nothin' ;)

Kalel got set up in the laundry basket and read books to his sister. Can't get mad that they are supposed to be in bed... or that there room is always a disaster.
Then he actually slept in the basket.

Another really fun experiment was dissolving the egg shell off the egg. Super cool. Vinegar will dissolve the egg shell but keep the membrane in tack. Top left, it was soft and starting to dissolve. You can see my fingers pushing in. Bottom left, No more shell! Top and bottom right, We put it in corn syrup and it sucked out all the water inside the membrane. Then we put it back in vinegar and it puffed back up. We could even bounce it gently.

And then... I will have to post the birth story, when I have time!
