Wright Family Reunion

The morning after the wedding we loaded up and headed to St. George for a Wright Family Reunion. We don't have these every year so it was so fun! My Uncle Warren put SO much time and thought into it. It was a definite SUCCESS! I learned so much about my ancestors and loved seeing where they lived and hearing stories about their lives.  

We stayed with the Bennion's at our condo. Here is Laylah hiding in the cupboard.

Most of my extended family stayed in a large house in Virgin, Utah. We met up with them in Zions. We saw a movie that talked about the first people who explored Zions. It was a very interesting movie and I highly recommend it!

We spent a couple of hours in Grafton Utah. We had some ancestors who settled this area and a lot of the buildings they built and or lived in were still there. It was actually really cool to be able to see them and... break into them! We were supposed to have a key but it wasn't there, so my cousin Christian got in and opened a window for all of us.

I loved the light peaking around this corner on the staircase.

This was the upstairs room. I was surprised with how big this house was for the time period when it was built.

You could see the school house/ church house/ social hall through the window upstairs.

This sign was on the ground. Part of it was faded but it says: "Grafton was settled in Dec of 1859 by a group of Saints led by Natan C. Tenny. Due to common floods and Indian attacks, The farming town never flourished. It peaked in 18__ and was abandoned by the _____." From what I remember they moved to Rockville because floods took out all of their farms. Then they moved back and re built. They had a lot of problems with Indian raids. So they eventually moved to a slightly bigger town to have some protection. 

Here is the building they used for church, school and dances! There wasn't much room in there. 

We had some fun exploring. Laylah had fun riding on and torturing her Daddy.

We went to the Grafton cemetery and saw markers for some of our ancestors graves. I know Alonzo H Russell and his 2 (yes 2) wives were buried there along with some of their children.

For dinner we headed to Rockville, Utah. We ate, talked and had a little talent show. Laylah kept going on stage with Hannah and dancing.

We then enjoyed relaxing in St. George and spending some time swimming.
